727 Theater Company is a "company" comprised of Alyssa Davidson's vocal and piano students from all over Montgomery County. The students are from Abington High School, Cheltenham High School, Elkins Park Middle School, Springside, Springfield Middle School and High School, Plymouth Meeting Friends, just to name a few.It is a very diverse group of young people. The students learn about production, putting together a concept and making it a "show". They learn about the financial side of theater, lights, sound, choreography and performing. We always like to say "It's all about the journey. How you approach the project and what you put into it...that is what counts.

We started five years ago. 727 has performed: "Into the Woods", "You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown", A...My name is Alice". The last show was an original concept "Counter Clockwise...It's all about the journey". The show depicted different stages of our lives. Starting with being older...followed by middle age, and ending with our youth. Like a clock going backwards.

This year..."Everything You Learned In Kindergarten...and then some" is another original. The kids had to answer a list of 27 questions...I can send you the list. From that list I took many of the kids wonderfully described antidotes and inserted them in to the show. They became diary entries. The audience will be hearing these selections interspersed with songs and monologues. The kids are not reading their individual answers...to make sure everyone feels comfortable.

So...that is a short description of our show. There is an event on Saturday night...the wine social as we call it starts at 6:30 p.m.We are not a profit making company. We pay our bills through ticket sales and program ads. It definitely gets challenging as we near opening night.
